Lighthouse Point is a small town that wishes to remain so. The leisurely lifestyle appeals to its' residents and they have no need to be concerned about any future expansion. Tucked in among other communities, it cannot expand. The total area of this community consists of about 2.5 square miles.
Characterized by informal affluence and a leisurely pace, the attractive neighborhoods are quiet, tree shaded and water-laced. Of the residences, 80% are single family homes, many of which lie on the city's 18 miles of deepwater canals.
The east door of Lighthouse Point opens to the Intracoastal Waterway. This area which has been sitting under the beam of the famed Hillsboro Inlet Lighthouse since 1906, is where the city received it's named.
Federal Highway, with its' shopping centers, restaurants and other business establishments is the west door of the city. Just about everything seems to be close by.
Approximately 20 acres of parks and mini parks along with 13 miles of bike ways symbolize the nature of community life here. The streets wind and twist where you can find many cul-de-sacs.
Incorporated in 1956, the city has few remaining vacant lots today. Better than 95% of the city is developed and most homes fall into the upper-medium to top price range.
Police and Fire protection are excellent. The city successfully operates it's own library housed in a new million dollar building along with the Building Department, Code Enforcement and Zoning Departments.
Recreation amenities include the Lighthouse Point Tennis Center, Dan Witt Park which boasts a new playground area for the young, along with areas for sports including basketball and tennis courts.
The Lighthouse Point Yacht and Racquet Club includes a fine dining facilities, handsome clubhouse, sheltered boat docks, pool, tennis courts and health spa.
For young and old alike, Lighthouse Point provides the friendly atmosphere of a self sufficient prosperous and proud community.
There are many different things that people tend to disagree on these days, but an exception just may be living in Lighthouse Point!
